Costly Kelly Has Nothing to Say as Trump Jeopardizes Nearly $4 Billion to New Hampshire’s Economy
 

Donald Trump has moved to eliminate federal protections for approximately 235,000 acres of roadless backcountry within New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest. Granite State conservationists say the proposed change opens the forest up for “industrial-scale logging,” and it could “entice drilling, mining and other resource-extraction industries.” 

The White Mountain Forest contributes $4 billion annually to the state’s economy and supports 30,000 jobs. The Forest attracts nearly 6 million visitors each year, and business owners have already been sounding the alarm about how disastrous these changes could be, as Trump’s move will “affect how these lands are managed.” 

Ayotte continues to stand by as Trump steamrolls New Hampshire’s economy and wreaks havoc on small businesses and the state’s tourism industry. Once again, Costly Kelly hasn’t done so much as lift a finger despite continued pressure from Granite Staters to “oppose attempts” that will “diminish protections of state and public lands.”

“New Hampshire’s forests are a state treasure and an economic powerhouse,” said NHDP spokesperson Marissa Hebert. “Yet somehow, none of that is enough for Costly Kelly to stand up to Donald Trump. When it comes to protecting New Hampshire, Kelly Ayotte keeps proving that her loyalty to Trump comes first.”
