We are thrilled to give Charley this opportunity.”

POLK CITY, FL, UNITED STATES, April 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- What began as an uncertain future for a young 4-H steer has turned into a heartwarming story of community, compassion, and second chances. Charley, a steer who did not meet the required weight for show competition, narrowly avoided being sold for processing thanks to the determination of Leslie Russell, a meteorologist based in Orlando.

Moved by Charley’s story, Russell rallied support and worked tirelessly to raise funds to purchase him, ensuring he would have the opportunity for a different life. Her efforts didn’t stop there—she then took on the challenge of finding Charley a permanent home where he could thrive.

That home has been found.

On Tuesday, April 7, with the support of Florida Farm School, Charley will make his journey to Bell Family Farm, a family-run petting farm established in 2021 by Ray and Sarah Bell in Polk City.

At Bell Family Farm, Charley’s next chapter begins with a unique opportunity: he will be evaluated for his potential role as an official “Cow Cuddle” cow. If he takes to the role, visitors will be able to book time to interact with Charley—petting, feeding, cuddling, and bonding with him in a peaceful farm setting. There’s even the possibility of bath-time bonding for those looking for the full hands-on farm experience.

“Charley’s story is remarkable,” said the Bell family. “He managed to cross paths with all the right humans in our incredible community who would recognize his unique worth. While we aren’t a rescue or a sanctuary, we look for animals who will thrive in an environment with people. And we could see right away that he would do well at our farm and are thrilled to give him that opportunity.”

The community is invited to follow Charley’s journey as he settles into farm life and discovers his new role. Updates, photos, and booking opportunities will be shared on Bell Family Farm’s social media channels and website.
