Lukashenko Condemns US, Israeli Attacks on Iran
(MENAFN) Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has accused both the United States and Israel of "brazenly" flouting multiple international accords by launching attacks on Iran's nuclear installations.
He cautioned that such aggressive conduct could have resulted in disastrous outcomes.
On June 13, Israel carried out strikes on Iran’s nuclear and defense-related infrastructure, following the adoption of a resolution by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stating that Tehran had failed to meet its responsibilities under the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Iran has strongly refuted the accusation.
Days later, the US reportedly conducted its own air raids, hitting three nuclear-related facilities in Iran.
“The recent strikes on the Iranian nuclear facilities under the control of the IAEA are violating the norms of the international law in the most dangerous way,” the Belarusian president asserted during a gathering of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) on Friday.
President Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus is particularly conscious of the dire risks posed by such military actions, recalling the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear catastrophe.
The explosion at the Soviet-era reactor led to widespread radioactive contamination across vast regions, he noted, underscoring the magnitude of the potential dangers involved.
